The Government is intensifying its efforts to improve energy efficiency

“More power, more networks and more efficient use of our power is essential if we are to achieve the goal of becoming a low-emission society in 2050.” In the state budget for 2024, the government proposes:

      • To increase the allocation for Enova’s work on energy efficiency by NOK 180 million.
      • To continue and strengthen Husbanken’s grant scheme for energy measures in municipal buildings to NOK 300 million.
      • To increase the allocations to the Norwegian Directorate of Water Resources and Energy, the Directorate for Building Quality and the Housing Bank by a total of NOK 15 million to strengthen their work with energy efficiency.

The government will impose requirements on those who use the most energy in industry and other large enterprises, such as requirements for energy mapping and the use of excess heat. Among other things, we will investigate whether more facilities should be covered by the requirement to carry out a cost-benefit analysis of the utilization of excess heat and investigate stricter requirements for the implementation of profitable measures.
