Circular economy – new Norwegian legislation for sustainable products and value chains

The government is strengthening the Norwegian legislation for a circular economy. A new law on sustainable products becomes a basis for introducing new, strict rules for products on the market. New requirements should give products that have lower greenhouse gas emissions, create less waste and prevent the wastage of resources, setting high standards for lifetime, quality, reusability and content of recycled material. The bill must also secure authority in Norwegian law for demands for sustainability in prioritized product areas. These are batteries and vehicles, plastics, electrical and electronic products, packaging and textiles.
