Norway has a significant power surplus and great opportunities for energy efficiency, which opens the door for emission cuts. Yet new industry, new wind farms and grid development will destroy even more nature. The approved “power increase” will lead to at least three things:

• • • Firstly, it will prevent the Norwegian climate target from being reached. Norway is the country in the world, Iceland excepted, that uses the most electricity per inhabitant.
    • Secondly, it will mean that power and energy consumption in Norway will increase further compared to other countries.
    • Thirdly, more land-based wind power and more cable networks will mean further degradation and destruction of Norwegian nature.
