The need to 1) cut greenhouse emissions, 2) release power plants into untouched nature and 3) have reasonable electricity prices has pushed Norwegians into investing in energy efficiency and energy flexibility such as local energy production such as solar heating or solar cells on buildings. The potential in smart energy use and in energy efficiency such as heat pumps, building insulation and replacement of windows, and in energy flexibility through energy storage, bioheat or solar power, to name a few, is large and realistic, but it requires political action to be unleashed.
